Back in January I started a journey at bootcamp that I couldn't even imagine would go this well. Several ups and downs occurred along the way such as gallbladder surgery and ending with a total weight loss of 76lbs. The common denominator in my success has been Shannon. Without her support and dedication running along side my very hard work and commitment I have learned how to be healthy and happy. I am now more motivated than ever before to take on all challenges in front of me and seek out new and difficult ones that are on the horizon. The year is not yet over and I can not wait to see how much more my body and mind can handle. Two years ago I began to get in shape by running in graduated increments on the tread mill until I could run eight kilometres three times a week. I ran a ten kilometre race a year after starting.

I realized I needed strength training and asked Shannon Van Ember if she would be my personal trainer. That made all the difference! We met and worked together weekly on routines Shannon custom designed for me, always with my goals in mind. She changed the work-outs regularly so that I got variation and the inspiration to continue on my own two days a week.

I have now joined her Bootcamp and I fit right in! I am able to do the sit-ups and push-ups that I could not do when I started. It is an intense thrice-weekly work out with a group of my peers. We meet on our lunch hour at work. Shannon varies the exercises every time so that we work our upper body, core and legs for maximum strength training and cardiovascular fitness.
Not only have I lost over forty pounds and many inches, I have gained self-esteem. I look in the mirrors now, I had a tailor take in 17 pieces of clothing, I am happier at work and to my family, I like the summer season now (I wore shorts all last summer) when I used to dread that time of year. I used to think I could hide behind layers and layers of large sized clothing and no one would notice that I was fat. Now I dress in a proper fitting and stylish wardrobe. I am so happy that I work out regularly with Shannon Van Ember there to inspire me. Do what you can for yourself, when you are ready. Ask Shannon to come by and see you. She will work with you as you are and she will make a difference in your fitness and health. I am proof.

Hi my name is Garry. I first met Shannon through work, as she was training fellow employees. I approached and inquired as to what I could do to get myself in shape?

I’m 53 years old and was 50lbs overweight. Shannon suggested once a week training sessions with her and to start trying to come to boot camps twice a week. I agreed and started my journey.

After one session with Shannon, I knew that she would be able to help me. With Shannon’s positive and upbeat attitude, she kept me motivated even when she challenged me to work hard. Although I would moan and groan and often complain to her, I knew that what she was doing was helping me.

Shannon is a wonderful supporter, her knowledge and preparation are second to none and now after 6 months I have lost 35lbs and gained a tremendous amount of mobility as well. I attend Shannon’s boot camps 3 times a week on a regular basis now and quite enjoy them. I am proud to say with Shannon’s help I’ve regained my life, so thank you Shannon.

My name is Doug Smith and I'm 47 years old, I have been overweight and out of shape for a good part of my adult life, about 2 years ago I decided to do something about it, I saw a Naturopathic Physician for nutritional advice and started making lifestyle changes. I changed my diet and started to exercise on my own, I was doing well with weight loss, but not getting the results I wanted with my strength and fitness levels.That all changed when I met Shannon.

I started attending her bootcamp classes and noticed very quickly an improvement in my fitness level. I started weight training sessions with her in June of 2009 and the results were impressive. I was starting to see the results I wanted in short period of time, I was getting more out of my 1 hour workout sessions with Shannon than I ever was on my own when I was working out 2 hours or more per session.

I wish to share with everyone my personal success story in working with Shannon; in July of 2009 I broke both my elbows when I fell while jogging.

After 6 weeks of splints and 12 weeks of Physiotherapy I returned to work. I was weak and had very limited range of motion in both arms as well as being really out of shape. I decided to hire Shannon to hopefully change my direction in life. We started with" baby steps" as I couldn't even do 1 push up or lift any real weight, but soon my flexibility and range of motion began to drastically improve and my strength began to build.

So here we are now a year later and I am still working with Shannon once a week with personal training and attending 2 of her "Beat you into the Ground" Boot Camps and the change in my life is 1000%. I have strengthened my core so that my low back no longer bothers me at work, I am feeling better and looking better if I do say so myself. I have lost almost all of my "Spare Tire" and have had to purchase some new clothes to fit the new me.

I owe Shannon a great deal of gratitude as she was patient and understanding and relentless in making sure I achieved my goals. This is still a work in progress but I have never been happier with myself and never felt better about myself.

Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the program you set up for me and the foam roller. It has been many many years since I have done any type of workout, other than an occasional yoga session. Even after just a few sessions I can feel the difference in my energy level.
